As simple a word slave is, as surprisingly difficult finding a definition that people can agree on. Most definitions of slave center around the fact that a slave has given up all rights to the Master without time limits or other restrictions. This is in contrast to a submissive who retains some rights and usually limits the time frame that they are willing to serve. This definition for the term slave falls short in two aspects. First, not all slaves serve in a 24/7 relationship. Second, often the slave does not give up all rights but predefined limits remain.
