Juda’s cradle, also known as Juda’s Chair or Judas Chair, is another medieval device to torture the anus or vagina. It was a wooden pyramid on top of a rack. The victim was suspended above the pyramid with the legs slightly apart and then lowered on the pyramid. The result was a very slow impalement. Unlike the horse, this torture was not always fatal because of its size of the pyramid. Of course, if death was the purpose of the torture, the victim could be raised and dropped onto the pyramid repeatedly.
Because the size of the pyramid can easily cause damage to the subject, there is no widely available BDSM equivalent of Juda’s cradle. Other, safer methods for anal or vaginal dilation exist.
